St. Margaret School Scrip Program
What Is Scrip?
Scrip is a term that means "substitute money". When you purchase scrip, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash (they are the same as the gift cards that you buy in the store). You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our school.
How scrip generates revenue for you
The Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Our school buys the scrip from Great Lakes at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount - from 2 to 15 percent or more - is our profit.
St. Margaret School has chosen to "profit share" - that means that you will receive half of the profit that your family generates in the form of a scrip voucher. For example, if your family generates $200 in profit, at the end of the year you will receive a $100 voucher for free gift cards! When we ran this program in the past, we generated $10,000 in profit in just 5 months with only 30 families participating regularly! Imagine what we can do if everyone participates.
Scrip is "shopping cart fundraising"
Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don't have to sell anything. Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip.
Registration, Payment Methods, and More Information
You can order your scrip online! Please visit the website www.shopwithscrip.com get more information and to register. (It only takes about two minutes.) The ShopWithScrip enrollment code for St. Margaret School is D26B17CB2L5L9. You can also set up a Presto Pay account. This is similar to Paypal and is a secure method of paying for your order directly from your bank account. There is a 39 cent charge for this payment method, however you have the option of sending a check in for your order instead, made payable to the SMS Home School Association.
What is the Scrip schedule?
The schedule will be on the St. Margaret School website calendar. We have Scrip order dates approximately every two weeks - usually with an order date on Tuesday and delivery on Friday.
